What did the first Adloyada in our city look like? What was Dizengoff's signature costume?
What did "Mehira," Dizengoff's horse, think about her starring role? What's the story behind Queen Esther's sparkling crown on display at the museum?

Explore the magic of Purim celebrations in Tel Aviv-Yafo, past and present, beginning with the first Adloyada in 1912. We'll discover unique historical treasures, including the iconic Queen Esther crown – used to crown beauty pageant winners across generations – and the saddle of Mehira, the beloved mare of Tel Aviv's first mayor, Meir Dizengoff. Dizengoff portrayed Mordechai in every Purim parade during his lifetime, riding Mehira as she led the procession.
As Dizengoff himself recalled: "Her gait was not an ordinary walk, but rather a ceremonial, official appearance, with confident and strong steps, head held high, ears pricked up, and nostrils flared. She would synchronize her movements and steps to the measured sounds of the orchestra marching ahead of us."

Following the tour, participants will create costume elements inspired by historical Purim celebrations:

March 3: Queen Esther Crown Workshop (each child creates one crown)
March 4: Clown Hat + Horse Workshop inspired by Mehira (each child creates both items)
